2015: What's Happening and When

  • Festival date is Saturday June 13th, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 14th, the Butter Tart Trot, a 5K fun run takes place at Midland's waterfront.
  • This year once again there are two contest divisions, amateur and professional.  Judging for both categories will happen at the Midland Cultural Centre on Saturday, June 13th.  Judges will be looking for the best 'freestyle' butter tart; any Ontario resident who is of the age of majority (18 years +) may apply.  First prize in each category is $500!

What a great event we had in 2014!

Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival and Contest was the sweetest showdown of the year!  Congratulations to Diane Rogers of Doo-Doo's Bakery in Bailieboro (professional) and Jessie Crowe of Midland (amateur), who each won first prize in their respective divisions
More than 50,000 butter tarts were sold in our street market on festival day, with most gone by 2:30 p.m.  We'll be aiming to have 70,000 tarts in our market in 2015!
The festival committee would like to thank its volunteers for all of the hard work they put into making our event extra special.  Over 50 people lent their time to the festival, and we couldn't have done it without them!
Plans for BTfest 2015 are well underway!  If you'd like to keep up with all of our latest festival news, please like our Facebook page, Annual Buttertart Festival, or follow us on Twitter, @bestbuttertart
We'll look forward to seeing you in downtown Midland on Saturday, June 13th, 2015, for what is sure to be the sweetest day of the year!
