Slow roasted grape tomato, basil & mozzarella on garlic crostini

http://thefeastingfoodie.com/2012/11/25/o-live-like-an-olive/

First up, slow roasted grape tomato, basil, and mozzarella on garlic crostini:

Crostini is just bread toasted with olive oil, and then rubbed down with raw garlic to finish it off. You can top it with whatever you like (often done with bruschetta), but I wanted to switch it up a little.
Get two pints of grape tomatoes on a baking sheet with olive oil, 2 grated garlic cloves, and lots of salt and pepper:
Slow roast these in a 250 degree oven for about three hours. The flavor will concentrate, and they’ll get sweet, squishy, and wrinkly:
Put these in a bowl, along with all those tomato & olive oil juices. Add half a clove more of grated garlic, a few freshly torn basil leaves,  and another hit of salt and pepper if needed:
Crostini time! Slice a loaf of Italian bread and brush both sides with olive oil, and season them with salt:
Pop them into a 350 degree oven for half an hour to toast both sides, giving them a flip 15 minutes through (the baking time will depend on how thick you slice your bread). And since I had this extra tasty olive oil, I used it pretty liberally. When you remove them from the oven, they should be nice and crunchy. Rub halved garlic cloves into the tops of the crostini:

Top them with fresh mozzarella, and put them back into the oven just until the cheese begins to melt:
Then comes that slow roasted grape tomato topping and a little bit more fresh basil, and they’re ready!
These would make pretty perfect  party appetizers!
Another great appetizer? Caesar salad.
When you’re making salad dressings from scratch, the quality and type of your oil you’re using matters. So when brainstorming recipes forFreshline Gourmet, I knew a salad was a must.
Making Caesar dressing from scratch starts off with a few surprises: a raw egg yolk, anchovies fillets, mustard, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and a grated clove of garlic. Traditionally, Caesar salads are made in wooden bowls, but ours wasn’t big enough to feed all the people we were having over tonight:

Twenty-six Directors. Twenty-six Ways to Di

VSC presents
The ABCs of Death

ONE NIGHT ONLY
Thursday May 23, 2013
as part of the Sinister Cinema series
25 Cineplex theatres across the country

Directors Kaare Andrews, Jason Eisner, and actress Kyra Zagorsky
are available for interviews by phone or email.

– Video Services Corp (VSC) presents the horror anthology The ABCs of Death screening as part of the newly formed and extremely popular series, Sinister Cinema, Thursday May 23.

Paper Magazine called ABC’s of Death "Sesame Street for psychopaths", and it was the closing night picture at TIFF 2013’s Midnight Madness. It will be screening in 25 Cineplex Theatres across the country as part of Raven Banner and the chain’s Front Row Centre specialty series.

“V is for Vagitus" segment actress Kyra Zagorsky will be in attendance at the May 23 screening at the Cineplex International Village in Vancouver.

“V is for Vagitus” segment director Kaare Andrews is available for interviews.

“Y is for Youngbuck” director Jason Eisner is also available for interviews.

The ABC’s of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived, with productions spanning 15 countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world's leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of 26 individual chapters; each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Provocative, shocking, funny and ultimately confrontational, The ABC’s of Death is the definitive vision of modern horror diversity.

The directors include Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl), Andrew Traucki (The Reef), Ti West (The House of the Devil), Jon Schnepp (TV's "Metalocalypse"), and Jason Eisner (Hobo With a Shotgun).

"We're excited to have our first of hopefully many films included in the Sinister Cinema program." Declared VSC President Jonathan Gross. "We're confident that The ABCs of Death will satisfy genre fans and we're thrilled to have this opportunity to bring the film to fans across the country."

Tickets for the May 23 presentation are available now at participating theatre box offices and online at cineplex.com/sinistercinema. For a complete list of participating theatres: cineplex.com/Events/Sinistercinema/ParticipatingTheatres.
