Pancake Eating Contest

Firefighters Challenge. Open to the public, and follows the log-sawing competition on the main stage, in its new location beside the pancake house.

Seventeen years ago, the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival added the most reknown, talked about world-wide event: a pancake eating contest. MCs Tim and Tom McGinnis have been working the phones for months trying to find hearty participants for this famous competition. They are looking for someone who can beat fire-fighter favourite, James Doan, who has won this event seven of the past ten years, smashing all previous records.
http://www.emsf.ca/events/pancake-eating/The event attracts participants from around the world. There are two divisions: firefighter and an open division. Rules are set and the criteria demands that each participant must consume five medium sized pancakes covered in maple syrup provided by our two local producers, Greenlaw’s and Lalonde’s, in the fastest time possible. Everything must stay down! Due to the choking danger, it was decided by majority vote that water would be provided. This event would not be successful without the support of the Elmvale Firefighters.
